Gas Tariffs

Gas Account Service Fees

Account Establishment Fee
Covers the cost of establishing a new Alinta account.

Credit Card Payment Fee
A fee that applies to all bills paid by credit card to cover the cost incurred by Alinta when accepting payment by credit card. This fee will appear on the next account after the bill is paid.

Dishonour Fee
Covers the costs incurred when a cheque or direct debit is dishonoured.

Overdue Fee
Covers the cost of printing and posting overdue notices.

Bill Copy Fee
Covers the cost of printing and posting a copy of a bill. (Note: Customers can access copies of previous bills via Alinta's website at no charge.).

Reconnection Fee
The cost to attend a property to reconnect the gas supply.

Meter Testing Fee
Recovers fee charged by WA Gas Networks for removing a meter and testing it in a laboratory. This fee is refundable if the meter is found to be faulty.

Special Meter Reading Fee
Recovers fee charged by WA Gas Networks to attend a property to carry out a special meter reading.

Booked Meter Read Fee
The costs incurred to attend a property to carry out a meter reading at a specified date and time.

Retail market levy
Is a pass-through of the levy charged by the Retail Market Company that operates the West Australian gas market.

Gas Connection Works Services Fees

Works Cancellation Fee
Recovers the fee charged by WA Gas Networks where a customer cancels a request for a new connection.

Trenching Fee (trench provided)
Installing the first 20 metres of gas service pipes for an established single dwelling is free. This fee recovers the costs charged by WA Gas Networks for running of a gas service in excess of 20 metres where a trench has been provided.

Trenching Fee (trench not provided)
Installing the first 20 metres of gas service pipes for an established single dwelling is free. This fee recovers the costs charged by WA Gas Networks for running of a gas service in excess of 20 metres where no trench has been provided and WA Gas Networks provides the trench.

New Strata Title Connection Fee
Recovers the fee charged by WA Gas Networks for connecting a new strata titled property.

Existing Strata Title Connection Fee
Recovers the fee charge by WA Gas Networks for connection a strata titled property which does not have gas pipes installed at the time of construction.

Commercial Connection Fee
A fixed connection fee for new commercial connections.

Meter Removal Fee
Recovers fee charged by WA Gas Networks for the removal of a gas meter at the request of a customer.

Recovers fee charged by WA Gas Networks for regulator replacements due to pressure upgrade to 2.75kPa

Changes to Alinta fees and charges

As part of our normal business processes, we have recently conducted a review of our costs. The review found that under current prices Alinta was unable to recover a number of its increased costs, and therefore some costs are being passed through separately to a customer's bill.

We have introduced an Account Administration Fee and a Retail Market Levy. The impact of the new fees will be less than 5 cents per day to a gas bill over the course of a year.

We have also removed the Energy Safety Levy.

Account Administration Fee

The Account Administration Fee is a new fee that applies to all residential and small business gas customers who have an account with Alinta.

The Account Administration Fee covers some of the increased costs incurred in servicing our customers.

Retail Market Levy

The Retail Market Levy also applies to all residential and small business customers who have a gas account with Alinta.

The Retail Market Levy is based on the costs imposed by the independent gas market operator – REMCo – on Alinta, which reflect REMCo's cost of operating and managing the retail gas market in Western Australia. Alinta is obliged to pay a proportion of REMCo's costs, as a participant in the retail gas market.

Alinta values its relationship with its customers, and is committed to ensuring that customers experiencing payment difficulties or financial hardship are supported and assisted.

Customers can call 13 13 58 to find out how Alinta can assist. Options include payment extensions, bill smoothing and instalment payment plans.
